As the one of the youngest hosts of a national program on CBC Radio, Tom Power is a rising star in broadcasting.
Hailing from St. John’s, Newfoundland, he started his career programming folk music on college radio, quickly moving to work at the local private radio station as a news reporter and reader. In 2009, at the age of 21, Tom joined CBC as host of Deep Roots and began to appear regularly as a guest-host on CBC Radio 2 Drive and CBC RADIO 2 MORNING, becoming the permanent CBC RADIO 2 MORNING host in 2011.
A beloved and well known presence in the music industry across Canada, Tom sits on the board of the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society, he is a juror for the Polaris Award, and a member of the JUNO Roots/Traditional committee.
In addition to his work on CBC RADIO 2 MORNING , Tom has also appeared as a commentator on CBC News Network, co-hosted the red carpet of the 2012 and 2013 Canadian Country Music Awards, and hosted Sessions In The Old Town on CBC-TV.
When he’s not on the air, Tom leads his own band, The Dardenalles, to national and internal acclaim, enjoys a good cup of tea and thinks that the world just needs more bluegrass.
