Congratulations to Switzerland's Sebalter for winning the World Cup of Music! Listen to the band's winning song, "Hunter of Stars," below. Thanks for listening to all of the great contenders and voting over the last five weeks.

What was the World Cup of Music?

The 2014 FIFA World Cup™ kicked off in Brazil on June 12, with 32 countries from all over the world participating in, arguably, the biggest deal in the soccer/footballing world.

Beyond the flurry of fancy footwork, flying balls and epic shin kicks, there's something remarkable about the diverse assortment of countries coming to compete, celebrate sport and represent their homelands. That got Q and CBC Music thinking: what's the best way to get to know a country? What one thing offers the best glimpse about the place behind the team, the jerseys and the sportsmanship?

The music, of course.

So Q and CBC Music picked the best new song from each participating country and we invited you to vote. The discoveries have been an amazing treat, introducing us to bands we'd never heard of before and reacquainting us with others we hadn't heard in years. Check out the full results below.
