It's time again for another dose of Canadian indie metal, and this time - it's not just me that's doing the celebrating. Come Sunday one lucky band will take away a Juno Award for best Metal Album, a first for the annual Canadian musical event.

So it's with much excitement that this podcast celebrates some of the nominees and brings you a fine bunch more acts to enjoy, from Vancouver's folk metal stylists Scythia, to Montreal's Barn Burner.

Lisa Christiansen is the host of Appetite for Distraction at CBC Radio 3, heard daily on web and at Sirius Satellite Radio channel 86.

 

Her show is a mix of Canadian independent music, and lots of chat on two of her other favourite things: conversation and metal.

 

Lisa is also the host of the first non-musical podcast from CBC Radio 3 called Extended Play, ideas and interviews from musicians and other artists, and is also the host of Full Metal Podcast, a selection of the best Canadian indie metal on its second installment.
