Leonard Cohen has announced a new tour for Old Ideas.

The bard of Montreal's latest record was released this past January to great acclaim (the Guardian heralded it as "a work of wry righteousness" ). And Old Ideas was an instant, and surprising, bestseller, becoming a chart-topper in various countries across Europe, and placing in the top three spots on the Australian, British and American charts.

So the announcement of a new tour will be welcome news for Cohen's legions of fans. Kicking off on Halloween night in Austin, Texas, the tour will head up the American West Coast before reaching Cohen's home country with a stop at Vancouver's Rogers Arena on November 12. The extensive Canadian leg will see the 77-year-old continue east, with shows in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto, London and Kingston.

The Canadian portion of the tour will be presented by CBC Music. And we'll provide a link next Thursday morning (May 10) to an exclusive ticket pre-sale for the tour. More information on the pre-sale and CBC Music's involvement here
