Grant, for a possible jet set segment alter on, tonight Imaginary Cities will be playing at 7 PM Rockwood Hall followed by Yukon Blonde & Library Voices at Pianos at 8 PM, a popular club for Canadian acts in NYC. Fortunately, the two clubs are in the same Lower East Side neighborhood.

@CMac @Kirk: Yaaaay! I love busy concert weeks. I'm on the fence about Barr Bros. tonight but I'm going to LOSE MY MIND at Joel Plaskett later this week. And am definitely not missing any part of The Wooden Sky, so I don't think I'll try to do both shows that night. Yeeeow.

@Rob: It was awesome. CRAZY busy when we were there because it was a Timbres game that night (people were actually sitting in the fireplace because there were no tables)

re: fonts - I never put more than 1 second of thought into font selection until my first year of university when my TA (who was also dating my older brother) told me that she marks reports that use Times New Roman font lower because the font makes her angry.  I thought that was pretty silly.  Then I got to go through picking a font for wedding invitations, which was about 1200% more effort than I was interested in putting into font selection.  Turns out my wife is a bit of a fontzi.

So (not so) new site question: Today I can't seem to get it to, you know, play music and all.  I'm not sure how the mechanism is usually supposed to work, but normally I show up and press some combination of right-pointing arrows presmuably designating play until music happens.  This normally works, although some days it doesn't.  (Although it's not that it stopped working one day--it mostly works except random days when it doesn't.)  Anyone else have these problems?  Is it just that I need to update Flash or something?  Or is there some right-pointing arrow I haven't found?

here's the series of clicks that works for me:

click boomark to get to the R3 "home" page.

click the Radio3 tab at the top of the page

click the play button on the right side for R3. then the music starts

click the picture for the blog of the current show (if it's actually showing at the top)

pray you don't ever click the "back" button on the browser or you get to do that all over again

It seems I'm unable to listen to anything, even after rebooting my computer.  Perhaps I should wreak my revenge on the CBC by going and listening to something that is specifically not Canadian, thus opening my psyche up to gradual cultural erosion and ultimately a resulting loss of my national identity which I will inevitably pass on to other nominal Canadians, contributing to a larger-scale loss of cultural identity.  Take that, inherent good for the nation of cultural identity and artistic support.  That'll show someone.  Any appropriate listening suggestions?

If you prefer text post [WITH] in a comment.

If you prefer just the flower post [WITHOUT] in a comment.

My argument for keeping the text is I feel it balances the design. If the text stays, it will be 'CBC Radio3' to make it good beyond 2012 but the font will change.

Well since it's baby announcement day I'm pleased to say that our little family is growing by one in September, and more pleased that it's not coming from me.

For years we were 3, then 5, and soon 6.  Pretty hard to wrap your head around it, actually.

@Lee  I don't listen when JP is on.

I was in Music Trader last week when they put Crappy Happiness on, and the staff (aka Boats) were stunned when I reared up and begged them to turn it off until I left.  One of them said to me "lots of people like him", and I responded that popular doesn't mean good.  He said "can't argue that".   Hahaha!

But yes. Buy Ashtray Rock and then turn it up to about 12 on your stereo and play air guitar like there ain't no tomorrow!
