In the first hour of  Saturday Night Blues this week, a studio interview and performance from Vancouver’s Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne. He’s one of  Canada’s very best boogie woogie piano players, and an award-winnning blues artist.

Wayne drops by our Saturday Night Blues studios to talk about his amazing career and latest release, Old Rock on a Roll.

On the last Saturday of each month, we delve into the vaults to play you tracks from a classic live album. In hour two of SNB, we’ll feature music from Johnny Otis’ 1970 album The Johnny Otis Show Live from Monterey. This amazing concert includes performances by Esther Phillips, Roy Milton, and Big Joe Turner.

Here’s a video from (perhaps) that very performance: “Little” Esther Phillips with “Release Me.”

Saturday Night Blues airs Saturdays on CBC Radio 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on CBC Radio One from 9 to 11 p.m.
