Coming up today on Appetite for Distraction, 4pm ET / 1pm PT on CBC Radio 3's web radio/Sirius XM 152:

There’s nothing more thrilling to me than an "accidental pop star." And that’s exactly what Exclaim! is calling Claire Boucher, a.k.a. Grimes.

The Vancouver-born, Montreal-based, electro-pop artist just released Visions, her fourth album in two years. Along the way she’s managed to garner a tonne of fans, a “most exciting bands to watch in 2012” designation from NME, and is also the X3 artist of the month for March.

Grimes is currently on tour with Born Gold, another experimental chanteuse out there to change music. On the show today, I'll catch up with Boucher as she drives through the Arizona desert. We talk fashion, creativity and the joys and pains of being alone.

dear lindsey, you're not (sorry to ask) making a stupid mistake somewhere? You are clicking on the stream with the CBC R3 arrow, upper right rectangle? (And then, if necessary, one MAY have to click the more central "play arrow"...

Nothing being overlooked there?

If all your part is fine, I suggest you use "Contact", bottom of the page, and tell them, listing your equipment including OS, FF number, etc.

All the best. (Me, it's iTunes that won't connecet, again, today. Oh well.)

All in all, though, very impressed at the new site, and i thank you & the team very much.

This is one of the best, and most interesting, albums I’ve heard in the last few years.  She sounds very humble and real in that interview too, and I think that comes through in her music.  One of the recent reviewers called this music for right now, I agree.  It’s not the kind of music I would expect to be immediately accessible, and yet I find that it is, and it also has layers that unfold after listening to it a number of times.  This girl is good.  She’s an artist.

@Lisa, RE: Big Men Go Fast on The Water

I think it's a song about the 1980's hit summer movie starring John Candy, "Summer Rental". If you haven't seen it, the premise is basically that John Cnady has to beat a posh guy in a boat race, cos that's the way gentlemen settle disputes. BA Johnston has a song outling the plot of the movie contrasting with lyrics of his own misfortunes.

I’ll wait to see if it’s a grower for me, but it’s sounding like commercial pop to me right now.

Pop music is fantastic, right up until the point it becomes popular.

Him and John Candy were inspereable haha! Here's the Trailer for Summer Rental and here's the link to BA's Stairway To Hamilton, track ten hit, Boat Races.

RE 117

sorry that's not the trailer, that's just a scene from the movie featuring the guy he gets into a boat race with.

@CDNz1 [122] maybe 30.7% of people who browse.  But fewer people than yesterday, no doubt.

I expected fewer than that. N2D browser stats confirm that number, too.
