Eric Bibb says, “The groove is king.”

For over 30 years, Bibb has been dedicating his career to acoustic blues and gospel. His voice is as smooth as velvet, and his guitar playing is near flawless. It’s when you hear Bibb perform solo that you realize how complete his accompaniment is; the rhythm, harmony and melody that emanate from his fingers support his vocals like an accomplished four-piece band. Wonder how he does it?

Check out this basic finger style acoustic guitar lesson from Bibb. When he locks into that groove, just try not to move.

Here’s Bibb with a live version of “Don’t Let Nobody Drag Your Spirit Down,” from his 2005 CD Painted Signs. This was recorded at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, and features Bibb with Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir, Wilson Pickett on vocals and Colin Linden on slide guitar.
