Lana! I was camping with 20 some high school students. It wasn't too bad, but exhausting! Didn't want to come in this morning (but I think I'll be able to take Friday off!)

We have some houseguests right now from Vancouver. They brought me a present of a book of songs put together by some sort of ukelele club in Vancouver with all the lyrics and chords.

My fingers are sore from working my way through that book. So many good songs, so easy to play! I basically want to be playing ukelele at all times right now.

On Friday I spent about 6 hours driving out to a spot on the Alaska Highway to do 2 hours of work.  All the way there and most of the way back I listened to R3 podcasts - Grant's new show, some sessions, etc.  During that time, I remembered how much I love Great Lake Swimmers.  Lana, can you play me your fave GLS song?  I love a lot of them and don't want to pick.

Lana - Sloan will be touring late this summer, but sadly will start their tour in Portland, then Seattle and back to Canada, but not come down to California.  I'm trying to figure a way to get up to OR or WA to see them.  It'll be a tour highlighting their Twice Removed album from 1994.  With that in mind, how about one of their most popular songs from that album, Chris Murphy's Coax Me?

@Beingineer  [69] and @smalliebigs [72]– Camping was fabulous.  I’ve had a summer camping trip with my best friend (since my college days) every year since 1989, and this year was one of the best.  We camped together for 9 days (July 5-14), and the weather was fabulous, and included Peggy joining us for the first three nights (and she fit right into the event!), and then when we moved up to Modoc County in far northeastern California, my 28 year old son, Brandon, rode his motorcycle down from Tacoma to spend five nights with us.  To think that the first time we took him camping was 21 years ago!  Just a happy, relaxing, and super fun time!  And my 34 year old “Shaggin’ Wagon” ran flawlessly!  Swimming in the Feather River, and float tube fly fishing in the South Warner Wilderness!  Warm days and cool night!  PERFECT!

Sooo hard to come back to work!

@laurita.snow [85] – Camping in the exact places we go every year.  (When you have found your own personal paradise, why look elsewhere?)  One spot is actually just out in the woods along the Middle Fork of the Feather River Canyon between Quincy and Blairsden on California State Highway 70, a place I first discovered in 1976, which happens to be right at the local swimming hole.  I swear – best place I’ve ever swam out in nature! 

The other spot is a US Forest Service campground in Modoc National Forest, Mill Creek Falls (the ‘mcf’ in my screen name).  Great campground, some of the best tasting water ever, and a 1 km hike up the trail to Clear Lake where we hoof up our float tubes to go out on a wilderness lake to fly fish.  Talk about a paradise.  Scroll through my photos on my profile, and you’ll see photos taken in prior years of both places.  The 2012 photos haven’t been downloaded from my camera yet.

I should mention that northeastern California is probably the least populated part of California, and you can still “get away from everyone” there.  Two of the five nights at Mill Creek Falls campground we were the only campers there.

Hey! I would love to hear Hey Ocean!'s Big Blue Wave, it's raining here in Southern Alberta and that song would just bring a little happy into the day! Everyone needs a little chair dancing at work...

Erinev and I's epic Saturday evening Part I

Seeing Skrillex at Bluesfest Saturday night was supposed to be the highlight of our Saturday, little did we know what was in store.

Skrillex's set was mind-blowing and we left with sore feet and whiplashed hair from dancing so hard. We were covered in dust, and some of us looked like we had just left the trailer park.

We returned to our buddy Mike's home (jmikelittle on the blog) where no one was in the mood to go out. Too much sun, too much standing, too much rockin' out.

But our friend was in town - and we were DETERMINED to get to the bar. So at 1 am, post a few beers and whiskey and cokes we begrudgingly walked to Zaph's only to begin the best weekend (so far!) of the summer of 2012.

The first thing Erin sees when she walks into the bar is a familiar face to R3ers, Ryan Guldemond of Mother Mother.

Too nervous to approach, Capital Punishment (that is the name of our crew) went and purchased some liquid courage (well, I did – Erin was braver and ran up to say “I love you music!” and then scurried away, kudos Erin – first contact).As the night progressed and we danced into the evening our friend Lisa struck up a conversation with the drummer, Ali Siadat, and slowly our two groups began to merge (all I did was drunkenly talk about Loon Choir – yes, I was that annoying girl).

Ahhh! Trying to get back to the stream for my request. Stuck with Jian!

a variety of small reasons. there were only a few bands I really wanted to see, the things I did want to see were too spread out, i didn't want to spend the weekend out in 30 degree weather all day, and i never ended up asking for press so it would have been too expensive.

i'm sure i would have loved it if i went, but i just had this feeling of general laziness/malaise/apathy leading up to it. I also had/have no FOMO/ROMO, so... 

KDoom I guess you've already seen a bunch of those artists a lot of times? I get ya.  CMac did make it sound pretty fun though.
