I'm heading up to Kamloops this weekend to see some family I haven't seen in a couple years then we're off camping in Osoyoos for a few days (fingers crossed for the sunshine in the desert - did you know that Osoyoos is the Northern-most tip of the Mexican Sonoran Desert?)

Probably won't see any bands as family trip lacks babysitting for underage kiddo (who was disappointed we saw Said The Whale without her the other night).

@Fiasco22, Shred Kelly is performing at 8:15 at the Tracks on Tracks showcase at the Gladstone Hotel, and again the same night at 11 p.m. at the Cadillac Lounge. Those are the only shows I know of.

Some idiodic girl slammed me into the stage at 560 last night, and I came away with what is going to be an IMPRESSIVE bruise.

It was swollen right after it happened, and despite icing it last night, it's still swollen now.

GRRRRRR.

We're not even going to discuss the glitter incident.

Euro 2012 starts today! Go Germany! (And The Netherlands. I will cheer for them to. And The Polish team, it'd be cool to see them do ok.)

@flannel tom - I have a good friend who just got cable specifically to watch Euro 2012. He is also cheering for Germany.

@Cmac: "The Glitter Incident" was the name of my short-lived Ziggy Stardust era Bowie cover band. Happy days. 

As a former resident of the once-great Prussian Empire, I too shall be cheering for Germany.

Being jealous of Rebbey.

I got to watch the '08 Final in Berlin (it was Germany vs. Spain - Spain won). It was really fun being there and even though the Germans lost, nobody wanted their fireworks to go to waste so it was still a pretty festive atmosphere.

FT: same. Though I was on the tiny island of Usedom in the Black Sea on that fateful day. 

I was in Europe for the last Euro Cup...wicked fun. If you want to take part in an extreme sport, cheer for France in Italy against Italy in a high profile game. 

@bengineer - where did you live in the former Prussian Empire? 

@gibson you and FT could meet up to mutually express displeasure at missing the train.

Must B exciting to B getting ready for that Train ride. What a cool adventure everyone is going to have. Can't wait to hear the tales of the tracks.

I'm really not that upset at not being on the train. $1000 seems outrageous to me and to be honest, I'm not head over heels about any of the bands who are on there. Don't get me wrong, I think it would be a blast and a half to be on the train but it ain't happening and I don't do FOMO or whatever its called.

What will you be doing this weekend?

Tending the weeds in the yard, hanging with the family (mom, wife, son). Sourdough waffles as always on Sunday morning.

None but will be going to the pub night fundraiser for my son's daycare tomorrow night.

It's not the displeasure of missing the tracks on tracks train, it's the fact that Regina has no passenger train station anymore.  If you want to take a quick train adventrue to Calgary or Winnipeg, you have to go to Saskatoon, and then it isn't a quick train adventure anymore.

I may go to Brasstronaut tomorrow depending on ma cash situation. I am b-roke. Damn big billls being due in June.

@gg77 - no idea what's happening here this weekend. I checked out a concert calendar for Regina recently and it looks pretty grim. I know I'll be playing ball this weekend and riding my bike at some point. Oh, and washing my car. That is going to be a good time.

There was a suggestion from @carlyg (who went to wintersleep in toon town last night damn her) to go to Melville on Sunday to see the train platform performance. Might be a thing.

WOOOHOOO, TRACKS ON TRACKS FRIDAY HAS ARRIVED!!!   Morning all.  I'm definitely suffering from FOMO this morn but excited for everybody who'll be aboard and following the antics.

This weekend is party time in Vancouver, Birthday and 10year Reunion of ex Lumiere staff where i used to cook.  Very exciting altogether but nothing like boarding a music filled train...sigh.  I'm somewhat comforted by the knowledge that Sled Island is only a few short weeks away and wristbands have been purchased. 

This weekend, aside from YVR3&D, Euro Cup and brunch I've got nothing on my docet. No idea what shows are happening in Vancouver or anything like that so maybe something more exciting will happen on my Saturday/Sunday but so far, just soccer. Kinda sad to not be training my way over to Tdot for some awesome NxNE times with some of my favourite people but I've been working on the plans for Europe and I think this trip will pay off.

My weekend

Going to Montreal to apartment hunt - the lovely Erinev is accompanying me and apparently we are going to some wild Quebecois bar tonight. Time to get cultured.

Also my weekend involves harassing people about the new Loon Choir music video

@smalliebigs that may be generally true (re: liver), not sure. There are definitely some medications that react really negatively when mixed with liquor though. I can't think of any examples off the top of my head but they're usually labelled as do not mix with alcohol. But so is Red Bull, so who knows.

@TheIceman - Ian, the regular sleeping car clientele on the train skews pretty old - the average age drops when I get on.  You don't normally see a bunch of 20 year olds on the train.  But this will be an exceptional train trip for everyone!
