CHART #299
This week, not only will you hear the top songs on CBC Radio 3, you'll also be treated to the songs by Quebec artists that you voted for to help celebrate this St. Jean Baptiste Day holiday!
Check out this week's edition of the chart as a handy dandy playlist.
Speaking of St. Jean, did you know that "O Canada" was originally written for the St. Jean Baptiste Day Ceremony in 1880?
Over the past 132 years, it's gone through translations, lyric changes, and even challenges to its supremacy as our national anthem!
"God Save The Queen" and "The Maple Leaf Forever" gave it a pretty good run for its money, but in 1980, "O Canada" finally became our official anthem! It's served us very well, indeed, for 32 years!
Don't you think it's time for a change?
Which Canadian indie song would be the ideal replacement for "O Canada"? Head to The R3-30 FunClub to suggest a song or vote on one! Next week, I won't be here, but Vish Khanna will count down the winning songs!
The R3-30 airs Fridays @ 9am ET and 9pm ET and Saturdays @ noon ET. The R3-30 Podcast drops on Saturdays!
