Good morning! I was treated to entertainment by David Myles & Mo Kenney this morning at the Information Morning 42nd birthday party. A great way to start the day, even if it means getting up before 6!

Speaking of funding for the CBC, they used to have a massive setup of free Nova Scotia delicacies at Information Morning birthday parties. This year they gave us coupons for a medium coffee. I didn't realize this and arrived with an empty stomach and spent 1/2 my beer money for tonight on a crepe. Damn budget cuts.

I dunno if I got criticized for not attending the R3 picnic (don't blame me when I interviewed two lovely ladies). At least I made it up when I attended the R3 showcase at the Horseshoe Tavern.

@markgage Nope, I didn't know Radiohead was performing. It's just that Twitter blew up when it became breaking news as I stayed in the hotel to cool off.

I dont think anyone would critisize you Lenny for missing it.  Maybe just wish that everyone could be there. 

@WildWorks - I don't know who would take you to task for missing the picnic. A lot of people didn't come to it.

I second the excitement to see Kathleen at Home County.  That's going to be such a great set, I can tell already. I can just imagine the evening sky and the stage and all of us together listening.  Ahhh, HOme County!  Be happening right now!

Re: satellite - normally it seems to be at the same feed as the internet, but this morning was definitely weird - I heard Fil de soie in my car, then noticed it playing on the internet once I got to my desk, but I wasn't paying total attention to the CBC show, since I was doing work.  Then I heard Intuition #1 for the second time, which FOR SURE is not being repeated in the same show - it's one of the top 10 songs of the week.   Which made me wonder if I'm in a wormhole, or if someone oughta check the satellite feed.  ??

Morning All!  I have been thinking the National Anthem needs to change for years.  There are alot of different cultures in Canada now and I don't think the current anthem represents that and it should!

jojo:  yes!  an R3 meetup at Sappyfest would be a great idea.  And then Regina Folk Fest, because it's so awesome, you guys.  I really do think we should try to spread the meetups around the country a bit more.

@mandypants I'd be curious to hear an elaboration on that point, specifically what in the anthem (other than the God reference, and perhaps the sons comment) excludes groups. The "home and native land" part? Anyway, don't want to put words in your mouth, & I'm not necessarily against change.

Everything sounds like early Wilco or Uncle Tupelo to me lately.  In addition to that Leroy Stagger song, this Rah Rah song is totally sounding like something Jay Farrar would be singing in the early 90s.

Working on the details for HCFF for Friday night with a visit to bro-in-law 50th party and we went to Regina FF a few years back it is not that long a drive from Winnipeg. Currently trying to work it into the summer plans (fingers crossed)!

the smaller festivals definitely have something going for them, that's for sure.  There's so much going on and so many people around NXNE that you always get the feeling that the best party is happening somewhere else.  Or I do, anyway.

@Carver: I'm a little jealous. After getting steady wicked BBQ in Toronto (did anyone go to Barque while in TO for NXNE? SO GOOD) I am now in what is (confusingly?) a slow BBQ wasteland. About 1 million people in metro Dirty City, many of whom are stereotypical Albertan beef lovers and not one solid BBQ joint. 

Brenda:  I KNOW!  It's like that every year!  I keep trying to tell people how great it is.  and I will keep telling everyone until you all finally get it.

@MikeV - yer going to Sappy this summer? A few of my pals who work at the Heartwood resto in HFX are going up for that and are basically shutting down the restaurant. I told them to hand a sign in the window that says "Gone Sappying, back on Tuesday" or something along those lines. I wish to heck I could make it out east right around then and go to Sappy too... we'll see, it might be a last minute fly by the seat of my pants type of adventure.

flannel tom:  Rich at the German Club will be off the hook.  I can't even believe how fun that after-party will be.  

but ya, festival programming is tricky sometimes.  I just think Sandra's trying to appeal to a broad audience base, that's all.  she does a kickass job of it, I think, even though it's not always apparent to us what the strategy is.

Happy to be seeing Mr. Roberts (along with Mr. Mangan) tomorrow in beautiful Banff, Alberta. Disappointed about lack of beer sales at the show, but I'll get over it.

Hey there, Benoit!  And good day to you, sir!  Yes, it is very unusually cool here.  Last Saturday, it hit 105F/41C, hottest day of the year by far.  And yesterday?  We topped out at a very unusally cool 71F/22C.  I still have my long sleeved shirts in my closet!
