Each day, Radio 2 Morning starts your day with music and stories about the interesting things going on in the world. Now, you can follow along at home. Here are the stories we're talking about today.
Fans of Tegan and Sara are some of the most passionate fans of any Canadian musician. Here at CBC, we want to give those ravenous fans something to whet their appetite. Check out a beautifully-crafted performance from Tegan and Sara live in their hometown Calgary. There's nothing like home.
It looks like adults have won a small battle over the youth. The weird part is that it has to with technology. New studies show that adults over 55 are TWICE as likely to have a safe password than their younger counterparts. They may not type as fast, but at least their online banking is safe.
Do you have a laptop? Laptop owners know that their major frustration comes from battery life. These computers are supposed to free us, yet we constantly have to plug them back into the wall. Well, fear not. Presenting the spray on battery. No, you don't spray it on your computer. It gets sprayed on a wall nearby your terminal. You'll have to just believe me that it's real.
Sometimes it feels like the only way to make a show better would be to compact it all to a shorter time. More action, less time. It's a perfect equation. Well, the Fourth of July fireworks in San Diego tried that out unintentionally. Their fireworks display, planned for 20 minutes of entertainment, all fired at the same time due to some glitch. Unfortunate or amazing? You be the judge.
Yesterday, the big news was the discovery of the Higgs boson particle (also known as the "God particle"). Everybody in the science world, and many other folks, were rightly excited. Except for one. Stephen Hawking. It turns out he made a bet many years ago that this element would NEVER be discovered. The damage? $100. Maybe it was a bigger deal when the bet was made.
