Handel’s Messiah has become a timeless classic. It’s hard to imagine the performance without picturing wooden church pews and a tuxedo-clad conductor. But what if you could belt it out along with the soloists from the comfort of your couch?

Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir’s Handel Sing-Along Messiah DVD visually transports audiences back in time, to when Messiah first debuted. Ivars Taurins conducts in full 18th-century costume, complete with a pompadour, and puts you at the centre of the action.

CBC Radio 2's Tempo is giving away two copies of the DVD, along with Tafelmusik's new Messiah CD and Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks.

All you have to do to enter is email tempo@cbc.ca with your favourite holiday tradition. Contest closes at the end of the day on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Two winners will be announced on Wednesday’s Tempo.

Watch “Handel” conduct the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chorus, from the sing-along Messiah DVD.

Tafelmusik performs the sing-along Messiah at Massey Hall in Toronto on Dec. 23. You can hear their new Messiah in full on CBC Radio 2 on Christmas Day. Don’t forget, you can keep in touch with Tempo on Twitter, Facebook or by email.
