Stream Ghosts by Big Wreck
Streaming until June 10
Press play on the stream above to listen to Ghosts, the new album by Canadian rock mainstays Big Wreck, before its June 10 release. Ghosts is the fourth album from Ian Thornley and company, but only their second after a near-decade breakup that ended in 2010.
The band entered the studio with one goal: to create an album they love, independent of the outside pressure to craft hit songs. Just make great music and the hits will happen. They enlisted producers Eric Ratz (Billy Talent, Cancer Bats) and Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush) to help find new and unexpected sounds in addition to Big Wreck's familiar riffy guitars and ominous harmonies that straddle the line between '90s fuzz and roots rock.
The results can be heard on tracks like "Hey Mama," with its mix of slide guitar and "Kashmir" crescendos. The first single, "Ghosts," sounds like Stevie Nicks's chugging guitar from "Edge of Seventeen" on top of Queen's rhythm section from "Another One Bites the Dust," but y'know, sultry and with two virtuosic guitar solos.
Stream Ghosts until June 10. Pre-order it on iTunes and check out the video for the title track below.
