Good morning, Radio 3.

I love all the effort put into hiding the word 'Fucked' on F in the gallery only to be thwarted by YouTube.

If you like Downie, I say it's worth getting as there are easily four very good songs on it, easily likeable ones after just a couple of listens. I'm sure a few others will do a slow burn.

It's not unlike GD's solo efforts, or even some tracks with the Hip. Ten cuts, shortish.

#110 Iceman, I often feel that way, too. After GW Bush won the 2nd time, in '04, I went on a news diet. But in the past several years, I kept up close attention, even though it's often very disheartening. But I stay tuned in, hoping to find glints of promise. Then, too, it's vocational for me, being an editor of topical nonfiction books, and blogging, part of which is about current affairs and media. I'll add, because US news is so toxic is why I consume and enjoy so much Canadian media, including CBC, + newspapers online and Canadian websites and books. With the US's insanities and obsessions being so extreme I've always found Canada a respite, a pleasant separation from my own news and media culture. It still is, though in the era of Harper, Ford, etc. I see that Canada's can also be very toxic. The Canadian media I first got to know in the 70s and 80s, when I first CBC radio during family trips in Canada, is long gone.

#133 Cool, @FTom, that you saw that post of mine from late last week! @Iceman had mentioned author Lawrence Hill, and I thought of George Elliott Clarke. So glad to know you like his work and also introduced him to people, like I did by bringing that book out. He came to NYC for some appearances, and I had dinner with him. He's got a big personality with an exuberant bearing. That was 2005. I loved the syncopated prose he uses in George & Rue, and in much of his poetry. For those who haven't read him yet, he's an Afri-Canadian writer from Nova Scotia, currently the Poet Laureate of Toronto. The novel of his I published in the US is called George & Rue. Highly recommended, based on a historical incident.

haha, it was We Are Scientists. They are super fun and catchy, and also hilarious banter.

I saw them I like three or four times around 2006 when With Love and Squalor came out, then they weren't back until 2010, and then again this weekend.

So I am eagerly awaiting their 2018 show!

Pretty quiet weekend here after spending a few days in Minneapolis during the week. We did get out to the university to see a killer piano recital on Saturday night!!

pretty quiet up in here this afternoon. I suppose repeat shows will do that. Especially on a Monday when people need live (or close to live radio) eh?

I went to the dentist a while ago and have half a frozen face. Now I sound funny when I talk.

Sorry about the repeats, Tom. Technical problems. It was that or no hosting at all.

Geez Louise, go away for 4 days but it takes you just as many to get ready and get caught up.  What a day.

I gather this is a repeat show?  It didn't sound familiar to me, but I trust you guys on that.

We saw a good band at The Blacksheep on Saturday night-The River and The Road.  Way better than The Archers, who they were opening for.

@steveV- fair 'nuff, I was just checking in around these parts and saw the previous comments about it being a repeat. My frozen face and case of the mondays isn't helping me any either.

@freshginger - I went for that badbadnotgood album stream, it's great headphones music to work to. I'll need to buy that one I think.

I finally used my iTuines gift card I got for my birthday (4 months ago!) and I got The Roots Tipping Point, and then a few other random songs including Dagger Woods & The Road To Guysborough by The Stanfields.I still have a couple bucks - any recommendations?

River & the Road is okay, but they're kind of a sub-par version of The Matinée. All the way down to the percussion breakdown.

Also, one of my friends tried the stapler-in-jell-o trick. She says it's not as easy as just putting a stapler in the jell-o as it sets.

The Black Sheep is as legendary as they say.  But a big part of it is the setting of Wakefield.  What a quaint waterfront village, reminds me very much of Clear Lake.

We had dinner in a tiny house converted to a bistro first.  K & G will being going back this weekend for Soul  Jazz Orchestra.

Nice pick, flannelTom. I quite enjoyed the BABDBADNOTGOOD first play last week. I'm not sure I'm qualified to suggest songs to you tho...there are so many people here that listen to more music/are more opinionated than I. (but if I was to suggest anything, maybe Delhi2Dubin? --dance beats iz where itz at, man.)
