Christian Parrish Takes the Gun is a memorable name on its own, but it's a name you're likely to hear a whole lot more after MTV's Iggy named the Apsáalooke native from the Crow Nation Reservation near Billings, Mont., their artist of the week.
And it's no wonder. The rapper and champion powwow dancer, who performs under the name "Supaman," builds all kinds of loops until he creates a powerhouse backing track, then lets loose.
"Native Americans grasp that culture of hip-hop because of the struggle," he told NPR. "Hip-hop was talking about the ghetto life, poverty, crime, drugs, alcohol, teen pregnancy; all that crazy stuff that happens in the ghetto is similar to the reservation life. We can relate to that."
