As soon as summer hits, everyone goes a bit crazy about the official song of the summer. We're guilty here at CBC Music just as much as anyone else. In fact, there's a whole contest on right now that is trying to pick the Canadian indie song of the summer. The long list is announced today, and you can vote for the short list by clicking on the link below.

Vote for the short list.

But you know what else is fun in the summer? Math! So obviously, the only logical thing to do is to combine summer songs and mathematical(ish) graphs. We've taken lyrics from some of the biggest songs of the last few years and graphed them out in the gallery above for you to guess. All you need to do is click through and get learning.

And I know we've already mentioned it, but don't forget to see what songs made it to the second round of our CBC Music Song of Summer contest. You'll find the 40 songs on the long list, as well as voting for the short list.

This is the topic of conversation today on CBC Radio 3 with hosts Talia Schlanger, Lana Gay and Alanna Stuart. What are the most memorable lyrics to your favourite summer songs? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @cbcradio3.
