(This will serve as the show post for CBC Radio 3 w/ Grant Lawrence for Tuesday June 25).

    • 7,000-plus kilometres.
    • 15 bands.
    • 11 moose.
    • Six provinces.
    • One really freaky doll.

Over the course of the last month, ever since the CBC Beetle left Vancouver for Toronto, I have been tossed in a Rocky Mountain river by Shred Kelly, white-hatted by Theo Fleury (not a euphemism), s'mored by Library Voices and mountie'd by Hawksley Workman, among many, many other adventures.

On Friday June 14, the CBC Beetle finally crossed the finish line at CBC Toronto. It was a red carpet affair but, as you'll see, my feet never even actually touched that red carpet.

It was a heck of a finale. Toronto band the Darcys absolutely rocked it, fans packed it and we even had a trophy case to show off all the weird and wonderful souvenirs of Canada we picked up along the way.

We hope you enjoy this finale video of the CBC Beetle Roadtrip Sessions.

A huge thanks to our CBC Beetle Roadtrip team: director Brent Hodge; editor Josh Huculiak; road manager Brian Cauley; project manager Bryan Ward; producer Talia Schlanger; executive producer Kai Black; and to Volkswagen Canada for making it all possible.

Thanks to you for following along on our journey, and here's hoping the CBC Beetle Roadtrip Sessions inspired you to get out there and experience our great country and its incredible musicians.

What was your favourite CBC Beetle video? How could the CBC Beetle Roadtrip have been better? What could we have done differently?

Let me know by commenting on our blog or tweeting me @grantlawrence.

When you're done, be sure to check out the CBC Beetle Roadtrip Sessions grand finale featuring the Darcys' photo gallery.

Grant, the new Beetle Road trip podcast is great. I listened to it straight through while biking a couple hours ago. The Arkells sessions was particularly enjoyable. I love it when they do unplugged, in fact, except for PS I Love You, the sessions were mostly unplugged. A nice change for many of the bands.

The Stanley Cup finish was also a lesson or reminder that turnabout in sports, or karma, is often inexorable. Watching the Bruins get shocked, deflated, then defeated in the closing seconds, after the Leafs suffered the same fate at their hands a few weeks ago, was for me unavoidable.

I'm pretty sure that the concusses will be that the roadtrip did not allow for enough visiting time. But that's not VW's goal nor what they were paying for, I suppose.

I thought it was a very effective multiplatform campaign, and I am glad that I was able to be part of it in a small way.  Just like with Tracks on Tracks, there is only one first time.

I don't like The Darcy's any more live than I do recorded though.

I don't think the Bruins losing last night was anything like the Leafs collapse a few weeks ago.

First of all, this was the Stanley Cup Final, the Leafs lost in the first round.

Second - The Leafs blew gave up 4 unanswered goals to lose that game. Twp goals in a minute is not unheard of at all. Happens a lot actually. 4 goals in 8 minutes... that's a bit different.

Third - It was Rask in nets, not Reimer. And it was the Hawks coming at them.

Either way - Hell of a hockey game, hell of a series... one for the ages!

Sorry to cut out from Grant's show so early but I'm heading out soon to an art opening where tonight my wife is exhibiting a painting in the Motown to Def Jam exhibit and Harlem Art Crawl. Her piece is inspired by a 1976 song "Let's Clean Up the Ghetto."

As you may know I broke up with Radio 3, we're only just friends now not going steady any more.

In lieu of giving the ring back I gave up my Sirius subscription, and got Rdio for half the price.  I'm pretty sure I love Rdio, but music is so easy to get that I am afraid that I will value it less.

One thing I did do was listen to the whole Mo Kenney album a couple of times through on Rdio. I was glad to hear that JP did not inject himself into everything she did.  There were a couple of songs that I thought geez, sing that in a lower key already.  That is what he does as well that makes me crazy.

I liked it, she's not reinventing the wheel, but I'd be interested to hear what she does with her talent with a few years of maturing under her belt.

Does the school have any family housing options? I'm coming home (Canada) in the middle of August until the end of September where three weddings will take me me Ontario cottage country, Montreal and Vancouver. Victoria is in there to visit my little sister and of course Edmonton and the East Kootenay.

Which brings me to the big news 'cause it ain't secret any more! We are moving back to Edmonton next summer so my superstar husband can start his new job as a professor at the U of A! He got headhunted. I guess I married well. He makes a mean quesadilla as well.

I am looking forward to starting a life of staying in one place for more than a month at a time starting in July 2014.

Going off onto the subject of me-me-me, Danny Michel is doing the Sheep on Thursday and Friday, with as openers and integral part of his show The Garifuna Collective. Both shows are sold out to the tits.

I did not know this 'til a minute ago (um, still reading): http://www.garifuna.com/

(Explains Garifuna = basically black Africans intermarried with Caribs, and living along the Atlantic coast of Central America.)

Steve Venegas, the auto-on feature for Grant's video above is bothersome, in that I paused the darned thing, and it restarted automatically upon some glitch (such as when the feed screws up). It's done that perhaps three times.

SO: no auto-on would be preferable, for the future. If it's possible.
