To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance have penned a beautiful charity single, "Ric-A-Dam-Doo," commissioned by the Regiment's Colonel-in-Chief, the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson.

You can watch the official video of the song above, performed by Homefire (The Wives of Princess Patricia’s Regiment) and featuring two principal singers, Edmonton-based Brittany Hancock and Angela Larson.

The title comes from the flag of the Regiment. Princess Patricia of Connaught, whom the Regiment was named after in 1914, was given the title of Colonel-in-Chief and designed and made by hand the crimson flag with a circular royal blue centre.  Inside the circle are gold initials VP, which stand for Victoria Patricia.  It has been in place since the First World War.

Ric-a-Dam-Doo is believed to be Gaelic for "cloth of your mother".

Proceeds from the song, which is available for purchase from iTunes, will go to Princess Patricia's Light Infantry Foundation, supporting Canadian military service and former military personnel in need.
