The National Arts Centre Orchestra headed to China on Oct. 4 for a two-and-a-half-week tour of the country. The orchestra will perform eight major concerts over the course of the tour, as well as take part in more than 80 educational and outreach activities and five broadband video conference events, linking young musicians in the two countries. This is the first time in the orchestra's 44-year history that the orchestra has played in China.
Prior to departing, the orchestra played a preview of their Chinese set on their home stage at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Below, a few highlights from that concert.
Bringing the Tiger Down the Mountain II, featuring a solo from cellist Amanda Forsyth
Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3, featuring a solo by conductor Pinchas Zukerman
Brahms Symphony No. 2
