Tumblr is a wellspring of single-serving sites, and it’s great for that. For instance, you don’t want to search the internet for pictures of celebrities with one hand photoshopped to be really small; you want to go to one site that only does that. That’s what tumblr is for.

There are tons of awesome single-serving tumblrs. Here are five new ones that have popped up over the past few months.

1. Music history in GIFs.

This tumblr combines the low-res aesthetic of Nintendo-style 8-bit graphics with the biggest moments in the history of popular music. The result is animated GIFs depicting everything from Prince’s name change to Johnny Cash’s performance at Folsom State Prison to the moonwalk.

2. Prog Butts.

When you think of ‘70s progressive rock bands like Genesis, Yes and Pink Floyd, you probably think of concept albums, virtuosic instrumentals and avant-garde live performances. Well, someone is thinking about their butts. It’s no surprise, given the ubiquity of leotards in those performances.

3. Kurt Cobain had the worst jeans.

Kurt Cobain became the poster boy for the grunge movement. And it wasn’t just music, it was fashion, too. Think flannel shirts, Doc Martens boots and ripped jeans. According to this blog, Cobain’s jeans haven’t aged well. They’re either too shabby, ill-fitting or have a high rise resembling dad jeans.

4. One Direction Doing Things.

British boy band One Direction is the biggest thing in pop music right now, and the bandmates even have their own action figures. If you bought a full set of these action figures, naturally the first thing you would do would be to pose them in compromising positions, take pictures and post them on the internet. That’s what One Direction Doing Things is all about. For instance, here Niall gives Zayn a tramp stamp.

5. Music Tattoos.

Music Tattoos is exactly what it sounds like: a collection of music-related tattoos. Some are of band logos, others are of lyrics, others are of artists' faces. Like all tattoos, some are beautiful and some are regrettable, but this tattoo of “Weird Al” Yankovic is awesome.
