At the inaugural Canadian Country Music Association Awards in 1982, the big winner was Ottawa-based act Family Brown. For the next decade, they would continue to dominate the awards, winning group of the year for six of the following seven years.

And each year from 1987-1990, k.d. lang was voted as the fans' choice at the awards, scooping a pair of female artist of the year statues as well.

Other artists came and went. In 1988, an up-and-coming act called Blue Rodeo won the Rising Star Award. Shania Twain, Paul Brandt, Terri Clark, Dean Brody – Canadian country's biggest names have all hoisted CCMA Awards over the years.

Our latest specialty stream has all these artists and more, as we look back and listen to 30 years of CCMA Award winners, as well as CCMA Hall of Famers, such as Wilf Carter.

Stream CCMA past winners here.

The 2012 CCMA Awards will be held on Sept. 9 in Saskatoon. Follow our CCMA Awards page for our ongoing coverage.
