Every week on The Incident, I uncover a secret about the musicians you love. It could be a story from the road, a tale from inside the recording studio, or just one of the crazy things that happens to a working musician.

Loreena McKennitt is one of the Canadian musical exports that seems to transcend the hipster trends and radio hits. She specializes in Celtic and Middle Eastern music, but makes it all her own.

She plays harp, accordion, piano, can sing like a songbird, and she has sold about 14 million records.

Loreena can be chatty during her concerts. I caught her at Toronto’s Luminato festival recently and can attest to that. Her band gives her a hard time about it, but it was one particular heckler who really fooled this Canadian treasure.
