Yesterday a blog comment got me thinking about decorum at concerts. Jdurley posted this:
“OFF TOPIC - you know what gets my goat? People at live music shows who sit or stand perfectly still during the show. Sure, dancing is not for everyone, but c'mon, tap your foot or nod your head or SOMETHING. My goat really hates it when you are a statue.”
We all have our own set of concert rules we wish were enforced. It would an interesting experiment to enforce the no videos or photos rule (or what I like to call “the Prince”) at my favourite venue. After the show I’d survey people if people actually enjoyed the shows more without the weird need to document every word or song. Maybe it would take a few shows for folks to deal with the technology separation anxiety.
Yesterday Thought Catalog released their list of 10 Rules For Concertgoers which range from “Read the setlist” to “Be nice to tall people.” Rule number 9 is “Take a look around.” It was a nice reminder to take a moment to see other people having a good time and the character of a venue.
WHAT ARE YOUR RULES FOR CONCERTGOERS?
What would you like to see?
What do you think fans shouldn’t do?
In a perfect world, my friend, in a perfect world.
