Hey everybody! It's Dave Shumka with you once again.

Well, today is the last day of school for many kids across Canada, though I doubt any learning has happened since late May. That last month of school, after the temperatures rise and the days get longer, can be torture. Nobody wants to spend time in a classroom when you could be romping around the great outdoors.

It's enough to make you do crazy things. Earlier this month, a group of BC high school students streaked at their school, and now they've been barred from attending their graduation.

When you were in school, did you participate in any end-of-year shenanigans?

Streaking? Pranks? Traditions? General truancy?

And as the temperatures rise, what are your tips to beat the heat?

Dazed and Confused might be my favourite movie of all time.

That was Mr. McConaughey's first movie and I can't wait to see his latest movie... Magic Mike.

I actually attended a high school graduation yesterday. It was interesting and really long.

The highlight was the little photobooth thing they set up. My family may have spent a ridiculous amount of time there while the ceremony was taking place... it was way too long to sit through!

Some kids let a few pigs loose in the halls of my highschool in my graduating year. I felt awful for the pigs, they were horrified.

i believe i may have made sarcastic comments/drawings on one or more of my final exam papers.

i was a wild one.

i thought it was kind of funny that the streakers were banned from their grad ceremony.

maybe it's a little harsh, but they'll have a story to tell?

i mean, what's the point of a prank if the there's no risk involved on behalf of the prankers?

My grad week of high school was a lot of fun and not much book learnin. There was something going on every night and every day I went to school under the influence of something. I don't think I was very well behaved in class, but the teachers just put up with it.

We were an arts high school, so of course we had a big musical/theatrical/everything ever assembly where one of our bands played "float on" by Modest Mouse in the auditorium and we all got up on the stage and had a wild and crazy dance part. It. Was. Awesome.

My high school's only end-of-year event of significance was the graduating class's assembly where they got to roast the teachers.

It was bad. Unfunny and offensive. Just what you'd expect from a group of 17- to 19-year-olds.

Beat the heat. When my son was little, we would head to the air conditioned library to hang out for awhile for a break from the heat.

Being by a body of water is the bestest way to beat the heat though.

Ok. yep. lurking.

I skipped school to go see "Fast times at Ridgemont High" . well, I was suppposed to be out selling adspace for the yearbook but I still bailed.

& while my graduating was no issue my pal Monique & I were nearly banned from the ceremony as we were caught playing poker with a deck of 'blue' cards across the aisle at rehersal. ( i think they were chippendales dancers but it did not go over well). She is the same pal with whom I wrote the epic song "Lets Talk Dirty to the Faculty". great fun, that Mo.

Some kids in my grad class painted something or other on the main entrance doors. Turned out the whole school was a heritage building and the doors were a character defining feature. The glass was origonal and they couldn't get the paint off.

Also, screening of Dazed and Confused in local theatre for grad class - it was pretty smokey in there.

also, once I turned 18 during my senior year I was allowed to dismiss myself from school if I had a 'good excuse' so I several times faked summer job interviews to sunbath.

Good afternoon!

This is the last day of school in Canada? This late? Then when does the school year start? In California we start either the last week of August or first of September, then are out for the summer the end of May or first week of June.

re #24 - it wasn't that long ago, and smoking was def not allowed in theatres. I guess because we rented the space for a private party we got to do what we wanted? Alternately, pretty mellow theatre known for letting teens into R rated movies.

The tradition at our high school was that the graduating seniors all had a giant shaving cream fight out in front of the school when that final bell signalled the end. The faculty always attempted to keep it from getting out of control - but they looked the other way for the most part. Nothing like a bunch of hormone crazed teens rubbing shaving cream all over each other. The year I graduated my buddy Tom pulled up on the front lawn of the school in his pickup truck which was filled with pine needles and dirt. He then proceeded to throw said dirt and pine needles all over everyone who was covered in shaving cream. Tom was funny.

HI everyoneeee!

Grade schools were out last week and the week before here I'm pretty sure (high schools being done earlier than the others, technically cause of exams and yadda yadda).

I was a pretty well behaved kid so didn't do too much shenanigan wise at the end of the year.. Now I kinda wish I hadda :P

I skipped my last class on my last day of high school. It was the first time I had consciously skipped, but it was drafting class and I really just did not care in the slightest. Instead, we went to go get slurpees.

I was a low level rebel.

Apparently there are a lot of good kids on this blog. Well done. I may have been a bit of a rebel in my youth and so glad my son is nothing like me. I skipped more than once and there was usually drugs, alcohol and hanky panky involved. :p

I also had to go to summer school one year. While it kind of sucked it was an easy way to get a 92 in Biology.

I remember lighting my chemistry notes on fire at a last day of school party at my friend's house - before the exam. The grass grew greener in that spot...

I was like darbar, skipped a lot, if I had spare on 3rd period I would often go get under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and then attended 4th period (we had 4 1.5 hour periods a day in highschool which switched, so you would math 1st period one day then math 2nd period the next, then back to 1st etc) I remember one year I put an orange in my locker around Christmas and then threw it against the wall in the hallway on the last day of school months later. I was a bit of a douchebag in highschool...sorry Janitor!

I was one of the good kids - I used to leave math class to hang out in art class. I didn't even leave the school.

Also, I didn't skip, I 'left' -I would go, wait for attendance, make excuse, and leave. Didn't want bad attendance record.

@Dave: dang, I wish we had fun traditions for the end of school...nothing really to speak of, beyond even more skipping of classes...and some people doing things during those newly created spares which caused them to come back to school feeling...odd.

Also: off to Calgary en route to Kelowna to celebrate the birthday of our home and native land tonight. Can I take this opportunity to express my non-douchey/not-over-the-top love for this country of ours? It's pretty special.

I agree though, most teenagers are sociopaths. My wife was quite well behaved as a teenager, and I keep telling her that if we have kids that are like me she is in trouble...

I'm also pretty sure that if she knew me in highschool we would not be married.

I would have thought they would have wanted to move to Canada if Obamacare was repealed. Obviously the Americans don't know about the tax structure in Canada. Someone has to pay for your socialized medicine.

But look at the bright side. You will end up with lots of "Stupid Americans" stories to tell, and they will be paying taxes up there. So, FLEECE THEM! You have my permission.
