Happy Canada Day weekend everyone. It's my last day filling in for Craig Norris, and it happens to coincide with the 300th episode of the R3-30. Congrats (or sure, contrats) to Craig, Pedro Mendes and everyone else who's had the pleasure of working on this show over the years.

Listener Jason Sherman recently pitched an idea to the R3-30 Funclub on Facebook, asking people what songs they could see replacing O Canada, as our national anthem. Members voted and on today's show, I'll be playing the top 10 entries, as well as your top 30 songs for the week. Two charts in one. They don't make it easy on the fill-in, do they?

You'll also hear me pose this same query to Brendan Canning of Cookie Duster, and Al Spx of Cold Specks. While Canning's answer makes a whole lotta sense, given the scorcher we're in for in southern Ontario this weekend, Spx's kinda surprised me until I heard her out. She picked "Show Me Your Stuff" by Diamond Rings, citing it as the perfect, empowering anthem to get the people going. Take a listen and see:

What are you doing to celebrate Canada Day weekend? Any more suggestions for songs that might make good substitutes for O Canada?

The R3-30 airs Fridays at 9 a.m. ET and 9 p.m. ET, and Saturdays at noon ET. The R3-30 Podcast drops on Saturdays!
