Ottawa singer-songwriter Kelly Sloan has no problem getting a pub full of people to hum along with her lovely guitar-driven tunes. But at a show in Halifax a few years ago, she got an unwelcome surprise.

Sloan is on tour across Ontario for the rest of June, and you can find a complete listing of shows on her website. She’s also just received the 2012 Ottawa Folk Festival Galaxie Rising Star Award, meaning she’ll be the first to warm up the stage at the Ottawa Folk Fest on Sept. 6.
