It's summer time and that means one of two things in Canada. First it means there will be road construction
in your town and on your highways. But it also means it's festival season
. For most of the summer Drive
will be featuring Up Close
recording sessions from bands that are playing at festivals across the country.
2012 will be the 34th annual Dawson City Music Festival. The festival presents three days of wildly diverse music in six venues around the tiny town of Dawson City, Yukon, in Canada’s far North. Small but mighty, the festival has developed a reputation for unparalleled intimacy, uniqueness, production quality, and hospitality.
Vancouver's Georgia Straight
famously described the Dawson City Music Festival as Canada’s “tiny, perfect music festival”.
To wet your appetite for what they have in store, check out this video of Deep Dark Woods from our recent Up Close session.
