The late Adam "MCA" Yauch was a punk rock bassist and a hip-hop pioneer. A member and co-founder of the Beastie Boys. A producer, a video director and a champion for human rights. 

The news of his death at the age of 47 spread fast across social networks on Friday, and the sentiments expressed displayed his vast influence.

He leaves behind a wife, a daughter and a legacy that includes a huge impact made on popular music, as well as a firm impression made on the fight for human rights, thanks to his work as a vocal champion for the Tibetan independence movement.
