Those are almost as bad as the Junos.  Montreal product tUnE-YaRds had the most critically acclaimed album of the year, as determined by a poll of 700 music journalist , but she wasn’t even nominated??  Pretty hard to take them seriously after that. 



i think you're on base that Adele will win tons & no offense but I would like the word 'sweep' barred from all awards writing until someone learns to use it properly. 

Now, with the Grammy's there's not necessarily a classic sweep. but like at the Oscars? it's the top 5.  Best Picture & the 4 acting categories. i've read sweep in so many film awards reviews when a movie just wins the most. Most isn't a sweep. All is a sweep.

many media writers need to watch more hockey.

again, kinda not possible with the Grammy's so I get what you are saying. I just don't think i've read an awards article that didn't include sweep.  Can't we be equally happy if a variety of talent is rewarded?

Wow, I am not familiar with ANY of these nominees... I recognize the names, but I haven't listened to any of the albums or singles (except Mumford and Sons). And what's up with Seth MacFarlane getting a nomination? Am i reading that right?

You’re right, it could be that she’s not really on their radar.  She was based Montreal based until late 2009, after all.  Still, if a poll of 700 music journalists said she had the best album, why don’t the Grammy’s know about her?  The Grammy’s have a big dose of politics, power games, and pushing to sell certain industry artists in their standard operating procedures as well, and maybe not enough of that was leaning her way this time.

I saw Blackie and the Rodeo Kings Sunday, they were pretty fantastic, even if I was nearly falling asleep.

awesome!  I've been in that shape at a concert or 2.  there was a getting up at 5 am to get to Ohare airport to fly to Winnipeg for the BLuebird North show at the WECC (on about 3 hours sleep) that turned into a very long day of coffee & then beer with dinner then more coffee to stay awake then more beer because there was Keith's at the venue.

I was one damn mess by the end of that show. Fairly sure I scared the crap out of Jimmy Rankin with my speed talking (he & Tom are buddies). there's a picture somewhere of the 3 of us. it's not flattering.

William Shatner-I sure love that guy.  When I see him I always think for 40 years the joke has been on us.

Esparanza Spalding is an amazing jazz performer, she played at the Jazz Festival here a couple of years ago, and that show was considered by some the best of the festival!

I do find the Dance catagory the most interesting, and must admit to loving Duck Sauce, and yes Barbara Streisand (great video).  In fact I love anything A-trac does. He puts out a podcast once a month on his label out of New York, Fools Gold, and I just about wear it out until the next one comes.

Speaking of secret projects, it seems that maybe Elliot Brood has some secret music project going on, right now. Saw it on FB, but haven't checked it out yet.

That was an interesting album roll-out with Bahamas, yesterday. He seems like a pretty mellow, but super intelligent guy who tries to live and create with alot of integrity. Being true to himself and his values, etc. Following his artistic vision, etc. Not contrived.

However, now I realise. Boy, his music seems to convey a strong, strong influence by Hayden! Even tho it was Willy Nelson he mostly mentioned that way.

I love the last track on his album!

I don't take the Grammys (or any of those award shows) very seriously. I mostly watch it for spectacle and fashion. Mildly amused by and curious about the live music performances, for sure. Of course, the fact that both Rihanna and Chris Brown are performing this year is interesting.

I'd probably like Adellle alot more if I wasn't so sick of 'everyone' endlessly talking about her all the time. I find that offputting. I don't even take her music that seriously because of it. But, I think I've always been that way.

Do they really need all of those traditional categories (ie traditional pop).

They have so many repeat categories (best rock album/ best rock performance/best rock song) that they did not get rid of.

Lucinda is up for a Grammy? No way. That's cool.

Isn't Bonnie Raitt performing, I think? I love, love her! She's awesome and always has been.

Anyways, kindof funny. The way the Bahamas artist/singer was talking I pictured some super mellow Rasta type dude. But, then I saw his photo and he looked like a slightly scruffy Hayden type character.

yep. i love Lucinda too. i ranted a bit on FB about the Rodeo Kings not getting a Juno nod for dueting with her & Emmylou & Roseanne & basically every woman singer I adore.

i will be happy with any of the 3 of them winning. Levon's won a couple times but I'm still always happy to see that name.

One of my favourite Grammy acceptance speeches that I can remember was by Tom Petty one year! Man, that guy has integrity and is intelligent and is rather 'pure' about his art form, too, I think. I soooo admire him!

i lived in BAltimore for a couple years. It's a wonderful town but he's definitely making more accurate movies than people think.  There's some really astounding people wandering around that place

ok. fail on grandma's recipe. it's in storage in Michigan. thought maybe i'd emailed it to someone but no luck.

but this is pretty close here .   The crust recipe is right on target.  she gives options of pecans instead of raisins (yeah).  the one step to pay attention to is the corn syrup vs. brown sugar option. I go with all brown sugar. no corn syrup.

also, if you're not comfortable with crust making you can get refrigerated pie crusts & cut them down to tart size with a circle cookie cutter. as an option.

Not comfortable with crusts?  Heck, I make my own pie crusts for my pies!
