What do I need to quit?

Nothing! I quit smoking a while ago, I quit smoking other things a while ago, I quite drinking everyday (still drink, just not as often or as much)! I'm perfect! (Heheh!)

I think this year I'm going to add something instead of take something away. I've decided to add sit-ups to my evenings! Everyday, even if I don't fully work out, I'm gonna do sit-ups. For 40 days... (but hopefully longer...you know...)

Quitting Pop: Pop is stomach rot. Pure rot. Aside from the odd mix drink I haven't drank pop in 7 years. And every time I have a mix drink that includes pop and within minutes my stomach churns and hates me.

And for any of those out there wanting to lose weight, pop is one of the best and first things you should give up. Replace it with water.

Your belly will return the favour quickly and show the results.

@Grant - I quit drinking pop while I was at basic training, before I went to military college.  The training centre was outside of Montreal, and it was a crazy hot summer (2001).  I got dehydrated twice and that was it, no more pop, water only pretty much all summer (and beer, on the weekends).  After I got over the withdrawl, I didn't have any desire to drink pop.  But then, my wife bought some (years later) and I thought, "well, one can of pop won't kill me," and the dirty mistress has her claws back in me!  Whiskey Nose Grant has convinced me, pop is out!

@Grant [167] - Frostbite was pretty good!  Whitehorse put on a fantastic show, as I assumed they would.  I was really surprised that they recorded their backing tracks on stage during the performances and then looped them back.  I hear that artists have been doing this for a while, but that was the first time I have seen it.  I didn't make it to the Dudes (they were too late and I had been up since 4 am for work).

It was funny though, the "Main Stage" was a stage set up in the local college gym.  It must have been like going back in time for those two.  I think they enjoyed themselves though.  It seemed like the did.  Unfortunately, I was too busy on Saturday to take in any of the workshops.  It was awesome that they came up for it though.  I can't imagine they made very much money coming all the way up here then back to Ontario for a show in Waterloo, but their namesake appreciated it.

Plus, they played Glenrio - my fave Melissa song.  Sounded fantastic.  I don't think I enough good things to say about the festival in general.

As a side note, live music is one of the things that I REALLY miss since I moved up here.  The pros outweight the cons by far, but I do miss live music.  I even skipped two hockey games this weekend to take it all in.

most of the time it goes well, from stories from friends and what I've read here on the blog. BUT it isn't always perfect. My husband suffered for weeks after, barely able to walk for six days at least. I think the problem started with the doctor not using enough freezing. So my recommendation to you, is if you are a pot smoker at all, tell the dr. you have a high tolerance for medication and get EXTRA freezing. Not telling you this to scare you, more to be aware, cuz all he heard was bubbles'n'rainbows stories and they didn't materialize.

Ultimately find a Dr. that other people you know have been to and have happy reports about. I avoided a Dr. that my wife's Mommy Message Board she belongs to, warned us away from. Found out after the fact my friend had this Dr. do the procedure, and let's just saw his wasn't pretty.

This Dr. was well beyond retirement age, and refused to use scalpals and in lieu used straight razors (that is not a lie).

My Dr. used the no stictches method and my whole procedure was a dream. Especially when I compared mine experience to my friends under Dr. Rusty Blade McShaky Hand.

These last few comments are all me, no breakfast, not enough sleep, not saying no to things...

Sigh.

THINGS I NEED TO QUIT?

I've pretty much stopped a lot of the things I needed to. I was addicted to Diet Coke as a teenager, moved on to Sprite instead, and have cut pop out except for the odd Ginger Ale.

Chips, I used to eat chips for dinner in University, I stopped eating them for almost 3 years until a certain band that I shall not name peer pressured me into eating them on a camping trip and I was off the wagon. I TRY not to keep them in my house or else I'll eat the whole bag.

Doing things for free... at the beginning of my photography career, when establishing my name, I'd shoot for free a lot, or drink tickets...but you can't pay rent with drink tickets (THAT WOULD BE AMAZING). Even for friends if they hire me to shoot something, I get paid now. I'll still do the odd thing for charity for free, and technically what I do for Vancouver Is Awesome is all volunteer, but I get to do some amazing things in exchange and meet some awesome people and make contacts....oh and there is that thing about getting to go to all those shows. <3

Ahh, the smell of fresh coffee from a French press, while out in the woods in the Shaggin' Wagon.  Add to it the smell of bacon in the frying pan, and that's pretty darn close to paradise.

Re: What Makes You Beautiful. My brother was ranting a bit about the lyrics to that song on the weekend about how wrong they are. "You don't know you are beautiful and that is what makes you beautiful". He thinks they should just stop and start over.

@StephR - I saw OLP a number of times in the late 90s, early 00s ... they sucked every time.  Raine was such a fussy-pants on stage; seemed like such a chore for him to come out and sing ... even at his own festival!  (Summersault).

For your sake, and everyone else's, I hope he's become a better frontman on stage!

@EricR - Raine has the kind of face that allows him to be as fussy as he wants... ;)

But seriously, that sucks... I hope they're not like that anymore. Maybe it was an age thing, everytime I hear him in some kind of interview he seems really cool and down to earth so I guess we'll see! :)

OLP/PackAD.  Yup, sold out already in Chicago too.  Two months ahead of time.

@EP - Actually this tour, OLP is trying to stick to "smaller" venues to enhance the experience for their fans! I like it! They're still not super small venues as far as I know, but smaller than arenas. I saw The Tea Party in the venue I'm going to see OLP in and it was really cool! I was pretty close without having to pay for "floor" tickets! :)
