It’s hard to believe Jacques Greene has only been around since 2010. I remember hearing his Another Girl single on Gilles Peterson’s BBC Radio One show and being blown away by it slow build and looping vocals. Since then, I’ve followed Greene with a lot of interest, buying his vinyl releases and listening as his ideas of R&B and techno meld into a unique sound.
He’s in the news again with his new label Vase and debut single, "The Concealer" out now on digital with the vinyl expected soon.
The UKs FACT Magazine sits down with Greene for five minutes to discuss Vase and its future.
Also, XLR8R does a High Five with him asking for 5 tracks that influenced his music and shaped his thoughts on his new label. The most interesting track for me is Ben Frost’s "Theory of Machines". Greene describes it as “good music to get lost in”. Frost’s best work does take you on a sonic journey, and in my mind, so does Greene’s, whether it’s on the dance floor or on headphones.
