It’s a pretty grey day here in Vancouver, but I shall endeavour to cast away the clouds and cold with some new music. Welcome to Fresh Friday.

As you know, each week a crack team of Radio 3 music experts listen to many fine songs and albums from many fine Canadian indie bands. And once all the listening done, the songs find their way to my show for their glorious debut!

I know. Sounds exciting, right? And it will be.

New songs from Amos the Transparent, The Ruffled Feathers, Bend Sinister, Wordburglar, Catl, The Just Barleys and much more.If you’ve got anything new to share, now’s the time.

i learned to love steely dan from my older siblings vinyl collections long before i heard people dissing them. (mom rock !)

I know what you are saying. I was just budding in and trying to be cheeky. Having said that though, moms have gotten a bad rep. It usually means old and boring if something is mom whatever. I am trying to do my part to break that stereotype. :)

The 'filled-in' version will reproduce really well at small sizes (like patch or button) or where it's gotta wear well like tshirt.

I love the lacy-framework, though, wherever possible.

Sorry it is grey there, you have had your share these days. We have blazing sun, which is amazing and makes my spirit soar. Unfortunately it comes with a -25 price tag.

I saw some amazing jazz last night, a group from Quebec brave enough to tour western Canada in the winter. Unfortunately (but fortunately for us) only 20 people came to the West End, which holds 400. We tried to applaud for 400, though.

Winnipeg has a strong jazz community, but it is tight and insular. They will support each other, but not outsiders.

I think that is all I have to say for now.

I think I vote for the filled in one as well since the open one makes me think Eiffel Tower first, which would be great for a French tour perhaps.

You're not the first to mention the Eiffel Tower. It's the Tokyo Tower. Nowhere near as well-known, obviously. You got the main reason (aside from ease of reproduction) I did the filled version.

While I sure like Shotgunning, I think Fresh Friday is fast becoming my favourite day, I do love the next new thing. This CATL song is amazing, as was the WordBurgler and Teenburgler in the previous set.

it is just on twitter. i'll have a blog up eventually to keep a calendar on but it's meant as a pretty basic twitter concept.

every Sunday we tweet a link to a new short film. we use only the actual director's/creators sites for links. not just random youtube:)

i was resistant to twitter but I kinda like it. it's simple to come & go. I follow lots of comedians on my personal site. but i did this seperate so it looks more official. it came out of a conversation with a Brit filmmaker named Chris Croucher & we used his film "In Passing" as our debut. it's lovely but i advise having a handkerchief at hand.
