Time for another run of Fresh Friday, all the new songs coming to the CBC Radio 3 playlist, but another fresh treat awaits you, and this of the film variety.

Opening today for hockey fans… and fans of sweet, toothless smiles: Goon. The film comes from the fine minds of hockey obsessives, director Michael Dowse of FUBAR fame, screenwriter Jay Baruchel and also Evan Goldberg.

I say “and also” because famed Seth Rogen co-screenwriter (Superbad, Pineapple Express, 50/50) is not a hockey fan. Well, probably a little more now. But the former Vancouverite is Canadian, so that makes him, like me, begrudgingly a fan of the sport.

Evan and I talk about our Canadian obsession but also the real heart at the story of Goon. It’s all coming up on Appetite for Distraction.
