Movers and shakers in the Aboriginal community are gathering in Vancouver on Friday to honour those who have blazed trails in their lives and careers. It's the 19th annual National Aboriginal Achievement Awards and among those being honoured this year are actor Adam Beach, businessman Victor Buffalo, Dr. Janet Smylie and writer Richard Wagamese.
During the gala benefit at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre musicians will perform for the recipients including blues rocker Derek Miller, songstress Andrea Menard, siren of the north Leela Gilday, and singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk who not to long ago discovered her own Aboriginal heritage and is digging her Metis roots.
