I’m off to uncharted territory this weekend, specifically New Brunswick, one of Canada’s first four provinces, one of three Maritime Provinces and the only province officially bilingual.
I’ll be in Fredericton, NB for the Shivering Songs festival, and while I know many of the bands on the lineup, and can look up starts and facts…I don’t know the lay of the land.
To help me get my bearings, CBC producer Chris Kelly joins me on today’s show to talk about his home province. He’s from Moncton, the most populous of the cities in NB but knows his way around…he’ll give me some tips.
Throughout the show I’ll play as many New Brunswick bands as I can squeeze in the show. According to Wikipedia: "The performing arts have a long tradition in New Brunswick, dating back to travelling road shows and 19th-century opera in Saint John."
Stay tuned for my blog posts this weekend.
