While I love the song Feather, fur and Fin , I thought that all the songs submitted had to be original works that were previously un-published, released or otherwise distributed (http://www.davidsuzuki.org/what-you-can-do/playlist-for-the-planet/rules-and-regulations/) I think some of the other songs have been previously released as well. Anyone know anything about this?

it says that it needs to be original work by the songwriter...i think that in legal terms it just means that it can't be a cover.

Heal from Jack Lavoie( Quebec) is excellent ! His warm voice and upbeat melody both support brilliantly the encouraging message delivered by this optimistic song !

In reply to bdejourd. In the rules it also says under How to enter ."The song must be original and if published or distributed prior to competition, permission must be granted by appropriate parties."

Congrats to all the finalists, I think there were too many great songs to choose from. Way to go Katie and Danny! I loved Hubert's song about Mother Earth. ( New Brunswick ) I'm not sure we achieved David's vision of an Anthem but we came up with some original songs.

CELEBRATE LIFE ALL OVER THIS WORLD, EVERYBODY! CELEBRATE LIFE, EVERY BOY AND GIRL... we only have this planet and if we want to remain, let's stop this biocidal progress and start to celebrate life again. (chorus) We live because of this planet with creatures great and small. Life is about GIVING more than you TAKE and only taking what you really need.

Just thought of an eco-justice anthem. Take "OH CANADA" and change the words a bit. It can start, Oh CANADA, our homes' on NATIVE LAND. Then a drum beat starts with FIRST NATION voices. Then the song continues. When it comes to the part about "Son's"we change it to, "Son"s and Daughter's comand". I know that part has already been discussed with controversy. Did you know there is at least 6 other verses to this song. I remember singing it at choir and looking at the lyrics. It is quite religious based and biased. Before we can fix enviromental problems , let's correct the injustice that our country is built on. Time to empower FIRST NATIONS and stop the colonization. That is our MANIFEST DESTINTY. Just thinking. lol
