When Owen Pallett won the inagural Polaris Music Prize for his 2006 album, He Poos Clouds, (recorded under the name Final Fantasy, which he recently retired), many listeners were at first taken by surprise, but soon, his achingly beautiful lyrics, accompanied by conceptual classical arrangements made people think that yeah, this guy is changing how we think about music.
This, of course, makes him the perfect candidate for
the first X3 Artist of 2010. All throughout the month of January,
CBC Radio 3, along with X3 partners,
Exclaim! and
AUX TV will showcase Pallet's work through interviews and special features, including a look at his latest album,
