Good morning everyone. My name's Vish Khanna and I work here. I was temporarily relieved of duty recently because of a skirmish between myself and "Sunshine" Dick Johnson. And now? I'm back.

I won't/can't go into the details about all this. Suffice it to say, management gave this matter a lot of thought (eventually) and it seems that Mr. Johnson is not as credible an employee as they initally thought. In fact--and I'm not gloating at all--I understand that Dick is on probation now for being intoxicated on these very airwaves. So yeah; there you go.

I'd like to thank Tariq for filling in for me during my "time of reflection." I hope you treated him well. As for me, I'm fine and had a refreshing time away from R3. I'll tell you all about it on the air today. Oh, and I have a reasonably big piece of news to share with you at some point as well.

This is normally the Q & Hopefully A edition of the show and I'm looking for more questions from you. So...

If you could ask an independent music-type person one question, what would it be? Please tell me and I'll (hopefully) ask them for you in the next few weeks. Did you even notice I was gone?

Very exciting news, I loved Wax Mannequin when they were here, and the Burning Hell blew us all away at Sappyfest. Should be a lot of fun to listen to!

My weekend was great, had some people over for a get together on Saturday (thanks for the message on Facebook by the way Vish), had a relaxing day yesterday, and won my first curling game as skip Friday! Later Friday I was out at the Smothered in Hugs Customer Appreciation EP show, where they announced their name change to English Words.

I think he was mostly annoyed/curious that I'd set up a drum kit.

Seriously Im happy Vish is back. I dont know you or anything about you, only that your show is great and while i work my long day in front of my computer and listen to radio 3 I enjoy it all...... UNTILL this Sunshine Dick Douche bag gets on there with his stupid and annoying antics and sayings, he sounds so unintelligent. I change the radio station to the Current from Minnisota untill his show is over. Regardsless its finally great to hear your show cause its right in the middle of my day here in Milan, Italy. Perfect afternoon tunes.

Im a graphic designer from Newfoundland and live in Italy with my girlfriend. We listen to R3 everyday and we both really injoy your show, I was so out of touch with the Canadian music scene for a while and its good to be back in the "know". I have all my amico's here listening to your show and the station.

I think it is wise not to dwell on the whole drama that was the Vish/Dick scuffle, however, I have to say, I heard the original Q & Hopefully A with Sunshine Dick, and based on how rude and unprofessional Dick was at that time, I never understood how Vish was the one who "got in trouble."

By the way Vish, I know you also have a listener in Zurich Switzerland, because my friend Liz lives there and we often talk about what we've been listening to on R3 (I'm in boring old Toronto, but since you liked langoid's Italy-listening ways, I thought you'd like to know about some Swiss-listening going on as well).

Ahhh. Well. How exciting! I bet touring with Wax Mannequin is interesting to say the least. He played at a friend's house party and it was definitely an experience.

I missed this whole hoopla when I was on vacation in Thailand, but I just listened to the interview with Dick at work this morning and couldn't stop thinking about how messed up it was. You really did nothing wrong, and he acted some senile old man yelling at you for running across his lawn... Thinking you were trying to make a joke at his expense really made him come off as out of touch with reality.

Gald you are in the clear man! I love your breakfast show even though it plays at night here, it still makes me want to make "egg in the hole" for supper. Now if only I could find some real good whole wheat bread in Korea, my breakfast would be complete.

Hi Dawn! Nice to hear from you again.

Yes, an official announcement will come soon but, as it stands, it seems as though I'll be travelling from Ontario to B.C. and back again on a tour with Wax and Mathias. I'm excited. Our first practices over the weekend were really fun and suprisingly tight!

all this to say: Welcome Back!! all seems more right in the world now. I agree with tb3: hugging it out is in order.

had an excellent experience in seeing Old Man Luedecke live for the first time last night, at the scenic Blacksheep Inn in Wakefield, QC. he was absolutely fantastic. and the fun bonus was that the band/alt-folk duo I play in, use every part of the deer, was the opener. and that went pretty well too! what an honour.

Hey Vish!

Great to hear you back again. What a crazy interview, thanks for posting. As an aspiring broadcast interviewer I really appreciate you putting your maybe more awkward stuff out there, shit happens, live on air, and you have to know how to deal with it. Well played, I say, he really needed to take a chill pill.

The question I would ask an independant music-type person would be... Is the high volume and growing interest in new independant music making your job harder or easier? How does one go about getting their product out there? And similarly to a tree-falling-in-forest scenario, if an independant music-type person puts their music out there, does anybody hear it?

Breakfast is chai tea and mini ritz peanut butter sandwiches during my three hour digital prepress class... nothing like being prepared for a bright and promising future in the newspaper layout business...

Re your "I never understood how Vish was the one who "got in trouble", perhaps it's simply because Dick filed a grievance "first"* -- it puts the other party on the defensive and then has got to be acted upon, unless withdrawn.

In other words, it's simply the way it went down.

I must say I thought for a long time that the whole thing was a Colbert-like** stunt, where most everything is a put-on, but then I changed my mind when someone commented on this blog about two CBC employees behaving like 12-year olds (or something close).

Then I realised "OMG you mean this squabble is FOR REAL?????"

I'm still trying to figure it out honestly... with terms like "dummies" and "not modular enough" who knows... ultimately I think it's the laying out of newspaper pages, but how that fits into broadcast journalism remains a mystery.
