Hey gang. How are you today? Well, I hope. It's another National Hum edition of the show and man, am I outta the loop.

I'm just getting back in the swing of things here and don't really know what's going on in terms of cross-country music news. Are there exciting shows coming up where you are? What should I go and see if it's near me? As of now, I'm planning to attend the Sadies gig in Guelph this Friday night and am hoping to check out the Mos Def/Doom/D-Sisive show at the Kool Haus in Toronto next week. Otherwise, I'm drawing a blank. What have you got for us today?

What local musical events over the next while are you most excited about? Tell Vish. He needs to know!

Good Morning Vish. There are shows I would like to attend, such as the Sleepless Nights/Wooden Sky next Friday, and Plants and Animals on Saturday. However, I don't think I am going to make it to any shows for awhile, le sigh.

Why no shows? Is it le lucre?

Is there a venue in your parts that you can volunteer at? I volunteer at the West End here, and for every 3 shows you work, you get to see one show free.

I know TB3 volunters at the Alolian.

I am not paying to see Geoff Berner at the end of the month, plus you get to work shows you probably would never see if you were paying.

It is always really interesting and fun.

Good Morning Vish!

It's so nice to see your return to the radio3 website! Stereophonic is coming to Sackville and I cannot wait! All the excitement starts tomorrow night with two shows; one is beautiful music at the Mount Allison chapel featuring Baby Eagle, Pat LePoidevin and others, and then everyone is heading over to the campus pub for a probably profane dance party with BA Johnston. Oh I cannot wait!

it's our biggest weekend of the year, the Music PEI Awards Week and Gala! Grant Lawrence is a keynote speaker this year, and there are a ton of great shows and events. I'll literally be running between venues so I don't miss anything! It's fantastically exciting.

Oh I am fine guys, sorry didn't mean to come off as Captain Depression. I just rolled out of bed. I should wait at least 30 mins to wake up before posting I guess! Anyways, I hope to attend its just have to watch the spending for the next little while.

Yeah I have wondered about volunteering like that myself. I don't know I might have to check around.

That's pretty amazing that you can volunteer and then see a show for free. Money makes things difficult for us live music lovers. I'm not sure how I would budget for Stereophonic this week if I had to pay. Oh I'm paying... just in other ways... Volunteering is still fun though, I'm looking forward to it.

Thursday at the Aeolian Hall, there is going to be a pay what you can benefit to help raise money for the relief effort in Haiti.

It will be a "pay what you can" even with all proceeds going to the Red Cross efforts. They're trying to raise $10,000.

Oh god well where do I start. NBC just cannot NOT screw up this show. I have to admit I haven't watched Conan in awhile because I don't have cable, but growing up it was Letterman and Conan for me. So its pretty sad to see that he hasn't even been given much of a chance considering they went to great lengths to keep him around in the first place.

Vish:Most of the acts are classical, latin and folk. Clark Bryan is the hall owner, and a well known classical concert pianist in those circles. As the three organizations working to organize this are: The Aeolian Hall, Sunfest and Home County Folk Festival, the acts are local and mainstays of that scene. The act you might not know, but should is Fraser. Both times I've seen him he's been fantastic.

daa1982: Are you signed up to their e-newsletter? That's the way I find out about shows. Well… I'm kind of lying because I volunteer there, and do their posters, I find out about shows before they're announcing them. So perhaps we should exchange contacts so I can let you know when good shows are coming? Do you Facebook or Twiiter? Look up John Teeter. Two big shows: 1) Basia Bulat 2) Owen Pallett. And another one I can't say just yet! But it will be le magnifique if it happens!

I assume that would be a benefit to living on the west coast. Late night tv would just be early night tv. Unless of course they just showed the shows later there too...

I'm worse than Vish - so out of the loop. But I know one show that IS coming up, although not in TO and not Canadian. I go to see Wilco with tb3 and Mrs. tb3 in London in less than a month!

John: I haven't gotten my tickets yet (couldn't get on twitter at work yesterday) but I think I may have signed up to pick them up at the box office. But I DID get official word to get the Wed and Thur off work!

did you like my Vish limerick yesterday? Benoit thought one line had too many syllables. it's all in how you scan it.

there are fabulous bands coming to The Blacksheep Inn in Wakefield, QC in the next few weeks. I should almost just go camp out there. Off top of head: Kate Maki with special guest Rolf Klausner (of The Acorn); a whole weekend consisting of Jenn Grant, Amelia Curran, Kyrie Kristmanson and many others; Final Fantasy. And many, many more.

I have front flippin row tickets to Wilco in a few weeks, that's pretty much all that's on my brain these days. Raekwon is coming as well, but it's in Saskatoon and on a week night so I dunno.

MusicSoop's friend Billy the Kid is coming through at the end of the month and I'll probably see her once or twice. I don't think she has an NMC page up yet, although I haven't checked. Regardless, she seems really good and is worth checking out if she's in your town.

Vish on drums had better start in or near London… and NOT just start in North Bay like he's suggested.

This upcoming possible show at The Aeolian has a lot to do with CBC Radio3 and this year's Bucky Awards. Cross your fingers.

I have to remember to ask Mom & Dad (aka Our Free Sitters) if they can come over and watch our daughter that night. I guess I should also request the next day off.

Oddly enough, the next evening, we're taking our daughter to see Disney on Ice. And then the second that is done, I am making heck bent for pleather down to The Aeolian Hall for the Owen Pallett show.

What a back-to-back couple of shows, huh?

As far as I know, from living in the "Eastern" time zone (which means "central" of course), shows are broadcast simultaneously in the Eastern and Central time zones only. Thus, I think the Maritimes gets things an hour earlier than us, or at the same "clock time", Central would get shows one "clock hour early" (simultaneously with Eastern), and Pacific would get them at the same clock hour, their version, as Eastern, and the Maritimes.

If that's at all undertandable.

So, only Central would get shows an hour early.

I'd appreciate comments from people in Central, especially.

I am going to shamelessly plug a friends band A Huron Union who is playing with, or opening for Make Me Young. They are playing in Sarnia, ON at the Trinity Lounge 02/05/10 and again at the Fog Lounge in Windsor ON, 02/06/10. They are both amazing bands but man oh man is A Huron Union ever good..I just love 'em!

At the Casbah in Hamilton. ugh. it's Friday but i can't get on facebook at work for the link. It's Mandippal Jandu, Robyn Dell'Unto(beautiful voice, her), Sean Pinchin & a couple others. Sean plays a mean slide.

great cause. i'd be there if i could. musically--they're a pretty folky/singer/songwriter-y bunch.

have you ever seen the GLS live? you're in for a real treat.

i've got in penciled in. need to start my summer planning but it's all based around MAriposa. it's our 50th & i can't miss. incidentally, i can't name names quite yet but when you see the Friday night line-up for Mariposa, you'll all want to be there soon. suffice it to say a few bands that people are loving on this show
