Good day everyone and welcome to yet another stirring edition of the What'cha Readin' Book Club. This week, we follow-up on last week's "best film adaptation of a book" topic and discuss the film Ghost World. John "tb3" Teeter recommended it to us and he'll be joining me for a conversation about it soon. Oh, and by the end of today's show, I'll announce our book of the month for February.

UPDATE: February's Book Is Whale Music by Paul Quarrington.

I really enjoyed watching Ghost World again. I hadn't seen it since it was released and it totally holds up as an endearing story about outcasts, trapped in self-imposed temporal purgatory, and struggling for satisfaction in/against an easy, mainstream existence. The cast is terrific, with great turns by Thora Birch (of American Beauty), Steve Buscemi (of Reservoir Dogs, Fargo, The Sopranos, and much more), and a young Scarlett Johansson in her first breakout role. The writing is snappy, the music is amazing, and it's just a really enjoyable movie.

I haven't read the book. tb3 will have to tell us more about it. Keep listening for more on that and to hear what our book of the month for February will be.

tb3 on Ghost World: tb3

What did you make of Ghost World, as a film? Have you read the graphic novel that it's based upon? Any guesses as to what our February book will be?
