I like a good epic tune. And by that I mean an epic song needs to take you on a journey; the song needs to change a bunch of times and often make you wonder if you are still listening to the same song. And most importantly it has to be long; at least twice as long as a regular song.
The Besnard Lakes are good at epic songs, and so are fellow Montreallers Plants and Animals. One of my favourites of theirs is "Faerie Dance" from their 2006 EP Avec/With.
This particular epic song has a rather hypnotic quality that just builds and builds for its seven minutes. Love the strings mixed in with the guitars and the crazy, dreamy lyrics. I'm sure you will, too.
