I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict/dream of a possible trend: the internet for good not evil. Tomorrow Radio 3 is part of a fund/awareness raising day for Haiti and it will need more than good will to succeed. But just maybe it has a chance.

Earlier today I spoke with Arkells' Dan Griffin about the Haiti benefit he and a bunch of Hamilton bands are playing on January 31, and he credited the internet for connecting people in ways that were just not possible not so long ago.

It’s a lot to ask for, I do know. And the odds are quite decidedly against me. Gossip, failures and wanna-be celebrities are the most common searches.

But with the crisis in Haiti, and facebook and twitter with more omnipresence than ever, just maybe there’s a chance to change things.

In the same way a film is often measured for its blockbuster abilities, I’m hoping there might be some fundraising record broken tomorrow.

Heck, as a gesture of good will toward my own cause, I’ll forgo my troll of nastiness that at some point occupies my day. And I’ll make sure I do some donating instead.

I know it’s not going to be easy, but change is usually hard.
