As a music nerd I’ve always wanted to have premium speakers,
surround sound, top of the line headphones and high end music gadgetry and
accessories. Essentially, I want to be the "Blown Away Guy" in the infamous
1980’s Maxell ads. Sadly, I have never (and may never) had the cash (or would
more likely choose a trip to France
over incredible speakers).
Should you want some light reading over the weekend, check
out this article on "Audiophoolery" by audio engineer, musician and skeptic,
Ethan Winer. He debunks the need for
high end audio consumer electronics and explains why he agrees in the statement
“the most important person in a company that makes an audiophile speaker wire
is the head of marketing”.
Phew, I feel a bit better.
Now, if only I could bring him stereo shopping with me…
