I'd love to hear Dan Mangan and Gorgeous (and talented and...)Hannah Georgas sing and play something together. I've said it before, you have to try real hard to ruin a male/female duet, and those two are both just...hrm, had a hard time thinking of what to say. I love them. I see there's a Dan story coming up. Should be a great show.

I've been to a couple of Kokoromi's Gamma events in Montreal, which are a collaboration of live LoFi music and Experimental video games. The very social setting changes up the feel of the games a lot, and is a good party.Unfortunately the next one will be in San Fransisco. But there will be more in Montreal!

My favourite musical colab from them is Vagabond...love Shad.

lana, i am mounting an impossible pile of photos for an art show tomorrow & dropped everything when you mentioned shane koyczan! he makes my heart crumble into a million pieces, and then picks up those pieces and glues it all back together again. his words are heart wrenchingly wrapped in absolute beauty.

i know he's not on radio 3, but i am going to fudge the "rules" and share some links. his website.. his myspace.

are you allowed to play that song? is it hidden somewhere in the vast radio 3 vault? it would make my growing frustration at this enormous project a bit more bearable. :)

9 hours to go by Po' Girl.  I haven't heard it in ages but I remember loving the hip hop mixed with the country, not a very common blend.  Who is the hip hop artist in that song?

Shad seems to get around a lot, not only does he work with other hip hop aritsts like Grand Analog and Classified, but as Christine mentioned he's in Vagabond with Hey Ocean! and did some rhymes for Said the Whale in their remixed version of Gentleman.

if that was the case, nearly every band in atlantic canada would fall under the "collaboration" category.

*insert cheeky grin here*

but anyway. to the best of my knowledge (which isn't much) she filled the shoes of alicia penny, but still does her own solo stuff. kind of like rebekah higgs & ruby jean & the thoughtful bees.

hm. so. what would define a "group" as a collaboration? i know most, if not all, of the members of ruby jean are in other bands. but i consider ruby jean to be its own entity.

(p.s. tom fun orchestra is a bit of a revolving door [in a good way!] of musicians. every time i see them, the line-up is slightly different.)

Only one BC date on their album release tour? Not too keen on that I am.

I think my all time favourite collaboration is Michael Jackson and Vincent Price in Thriller, it's just so awesome!

Fuse is the best show CBC has ever aired. The first time I heard it I was driving across Saskatchewan and heard Leslie Feist and Kathleen Edwards.

Love Kathleen, and she drinks great bourbon.

Fuse was the best, and once in a while I send Audience Relations a message saying how much I still miss it.  I have a memory of listening to that CR Avery/Sojourners  show refered to earlier on a hot beach.

However, Groove Shiny is tied with it for first place in my list of CBC Best Evers.

I saw Basia Bulat fuse with Done Gone String Band at the Dawson City Music Fest two years ago.  It was a really good show

Christine Fellows had some visual artist lady on tour with her a couple years ago, which was mindbowling (yes, mindbowling not mindblowing). The visual artist lady would do things on the overhead projector. I can't remember her name though... anyone?

Yes I noticed :) hehe. They are the "other funny men" that I refer too hehe. But i didn't know his dog was in it! Trivia Fact! Someone let Grant know! 

My friend had recently posted that Paul Simon video on his facebook and holy smokes, it was amazing. I had never seen it previous to that even though it was a tune my folks played in the house a lot growing up. Anyway, good video.

Also, I just read an earlier post that mentioned the Christine Fellows/Visual artist lady collab., so there you go.

One more thing... Joel Plaskett and Pete Elkas worked together on a bunch of things and the results were top drawer.

Vincent price and Lana on foodie friday ! He authored a cookbook once with recipes from all the hotels he had been to around the world .

@Flannel tom - I believe that Pete Elkas is for all intents and purposes now a member of the Emergency band. It was great seeing them playing together at SurreyFest  in the summer.
