A few years back I was home sick and watching The Tyra Show (right after Days of Our Lives. Man alive, I love a good sick day.) Ms. Banks went on about her collection of iPods. She had so many from awards show gift bags, that she stored them in plastic bins to re-gift.

I think about that story every time the Grammy/ Oscars/ Golden Globes gift bag list comes out.

I would like my Mom to make the award show’s gift bag. It would include some pre-buttered banana bread in tinfoil, carrots, some frozen soup (to keep everything cold in transit) and a collection of magazine and newspaper clippings that reminded her of you.

I think that’s what these famous folk need. After all, don’t they end up whining about being lonely anyway? Life on the road is tough, life on the road worrying about your $715 Mobilizer NXT® Hardside Officer’s Trunk (compliments of Victorinox Travel Gear) must be harder.

Okay okay, I’m just jealous. But one day, if I’m able to get my free Reverse flying V Gibson guitar, I promise I’ll give it to a musician that needs it.

Remember when you were young you got gift bags (or Goodie Bags) at all your friends' birthday parties? I miss that. Maybe I'll do that for my friends at my birthday this year. You shouldn't have to be famous to score sweet swag. Although my goodie bags wouldn't be as good as the Grammys. I'd likely fill them with pencils wrapped in decorative paper, stick on tattoos, last nights leftovers, mismatched socks, you know, whatever I'm trying to get rid of around my house.

Yes, the sameness of direction was known -- pretty well anyone may have noticed that at times, when cow-watching, driving by cows that were...

...car-watching.

It's their being aligned north-south, roughly along the magnetic pole axis, tht's the discovery.

when i have houseguests i buy each person their own nice facecloth, fancy bar of soap, toothbrush and travel sized shaving lotion & moisturizer. i wrap it all up nicely in the facecloth and tie it up with string and i leave the lil bundle on their pillow.

when i stay at someone's home i like to leave a hostess gift. ive gifted flowerpots + seeds. movie tickets and homemade caramel popcorn, loose tea, teaball, teacup & biscuits, etc and so on. you get the idea.

oh i do love gift bags/baskets

Of course dust bunnies! And my old tooth brush, maybe some canned veggies, or heck, the less-than-fresh veggies at the back of the fridge. Homemade magnets with pictures of me on them. Scratched CDs. My bills.

Yes. One kid actually asked me if the candy was hidden in the pot. I said yes. Thankfully we switched schools shortly thereafter.

I firmly believe the world would be a better place if everyone got a little gift of fancy soaps and toothbrushes...

Oh ya. I'm pumped. I was actually fully expecting to go alone, but now it seems a bunch of buddies are mysteriously lingering in Regina so it could get ugly.

And Vish requested they play a couple songs that I've been dying to hear. "northern towns", "i could turn", and a Baby Eagle cover they do: "Half Moon on the City High".

If they play 1/3 I'll be happy, 2 of 3 I'll be elated, 3 of 3 I'll probably just retire from seeing live music for a while. I just don't think anything could top THAT.

personally, i think it's really ridiculous that rich famous people get all kinds of expensive things handed over to them for free. these are the people that can clearly afford to buy whatever they want, so WHY ARE THEY BEING GIVEN OBSCENE EXPENSIVE GIFTS?!?
