Last week I got into a little debate over Sloan albums with
producer Chris Kelly. He said their best
album, front to back, was One Chord to Another. I think it’s Twice Removed (and
still do). When I brought the discussion
up to Criminal Records, they agreed with Chris.
Though he still thinks he won, I believe
the debate continues.
Funny enough, just today I talked to a friend who believes in
the sophomore curse, that all debut records are superior, as “you have your
whole life to write your first record” (Pish posh I say to that!)
All of the discussion has sparked the idea of a ‘Classic
Albums Cage Match’, and we're looking for your suggestions.
When you debate music with your friends, what artists and
albums come up?
What records do you think should go head to head? Feists ‘The
Reminder’ & ‘Let It Die’?
The Weatherthans Reconstruction Site & Reunion Tour?
Also, when discussing music, who do you go to as an expert?
