Happy New
Year!
Yup, it’s
2010. And besides being the year that Vancouver
finally hosts the Olympics, this is just a fun year to say: twenty ten. It
rolls nice and feels some how all futuristic. “In the year 2010, man was…” or
some such beginning to some story by a Asimov or Clarke.
But on
today’s show I’ll be having nothing to do with the future. It’s all about the
past, or more specifically – the timeless. Those classic ideas that just don’t
ever seem to age.
As well
as lots of music, I’ll be playing excerpts from a radio show R3 producer,Marie
Bartlett and I made for CBC Radio One called Past Perfect. The show airs today at 4p.m. PT/ET. Coming up thoughts from Todor Kobakov on going from pop to classical; two letter-writing
artists, and a chat with Cohen Brown, a former budding academic and now a butcher’s apprentice.
It’s a
pretty great show, if I do say so myself. I hope you get a chance to hear it.
If not, enjoy these insights. They might just help you on the year ahead.
