On my
show last night I brought to you attention a few unofficial national anthems.
But while it’s all well and good to write a song that speaks of a nation, what
of ones that are your own anthems?
If you’ve
ever spent a lost day, the kind where you just couldn’t figure out what to do
and nothing about the weather or your external circumstances conspire to make
you feel any better, then Morrissey knows your pain.
The
song “Everyday is Like Sunday” is one of those songs that perfectly captures
that restless gloom that some of us feel on this day. Of course vacant,
sea-side towns in the middle of winter are not a good place to hang out…unless
you're Morrissey.
