The Arcade Fire & Wyclef Jean are speaking out about the disastrous earthquake that struck Haiti this week via social networking sites and traditional media.

Régine Chassagne from The Arcade Fire has close ties to Haiti. Although she was born in Canada, her family emigrated from Haiti to Canada in the 1960's. The Arcade Fire supports Partners in Health (PIH) -- a non-profit healthcare organisation that works to provide health care to the poor. Today on Twitter the band is asking people to donate to the earthquake disaster relief via PIH.

Haitian-born WyClef Jean released a statement today urging fans to donate to relief efforts. Jean, who created his own foundation Yele Haiti in 2007, is organizing a massive campaign on Twitter and is reportedly on his way to the Carribean state now.

The list of artists supporting relief efforts continues to grow and includes such big name acts as Bloc Party, Coldplay, Nada Surf, Yoko Ono, Camera Obscura and more.

For other ways to contribute to the relief effort, visit the "how you can help" page on CBC.ca.
